Blue Bombers upset Roughriders

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - Justin Goltz passed for 129 yards and ran for 56 yards and two scores to lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a 25-13 upset win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders

Goltz completed 8-of-17 passes with an interception as Winnipeg (2-8) snapped a seven-game losing skid and won at home for the first time this season. Will Ford ran for 43 yards and returned a kick for a touchdown, while Aaron Kelly hauled in three catches for 78 yards.

Darian Durant, who entered the contest with a league-best 21 touchdown passes against just one interception, threw for just 129 yards on 15-of-33 efficiency with a pick for the Roughriders (8-2). He also ran for 93 yards while Kory Sheets picked up 65 yards on the ground and 57 yards on six receptions.

The visitors struck first when Durant led a 10-play drive, resulting in Chris Milo's 13-yard field goal.

Ford returned the ensuing Ricky Schmitt kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and an early Winnipeg lead. The return score was Ford's first in the CFL.

Saskatchewan threatened again later in the first, marching down to the Winnipeg 28, but Durant was picked off by Marty Mackett to end the threat.

Another Milo field goal, this one from 14 yards out on the first play of the second quarter, brought the Roughriders within a point, and his 30-yarder at the 10:44 mark put Saskatchewan in front.

Sandro DeAngelis drilled a 38-yard try for Winnipeg late in the first half before Milo connected on his fourth of the game, a 50-yarder 21 seconds before intermission.

Winnipeg went ahead for good early in the third quarter on Goltz's three-yard touchdown plunge, which came a play after Macho Harris was flagged for pass interference.

The Roughriders added a single midway through the third, and heading into the final period, Winnipeg led 17-13.

Goltz padded the Blue Bombers' lead with his second rushing score a minute and 53 seconds into the fourth after finding Kelly for 28 yards.

A single after DeAngelis' missed field goal resulted in the final tally.
