Bombers name Walters acting GM

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have named Kyle Walters the club's acting general manager.

Walters will replace Joe Mack, who was fired last week after a 1-5 start to the season.

The move is the first by acting CEO Wade Miller, who replaced Garth Buchko in last week's front office sweep.

"Kyle knows our football team inside and out and is the right man to serve as our acting general manager," said Miller. "I have every confidence that he will play a major role in helping us get a consistently competitive product back on the field."

Walters was named the Bombers' assistant GM and director of Canadian scouting earlier this year after spending three seasons as a member of the coaching staff.

"I want to thank Wade for the opportunity to manage this football team as we look to get it back on track," said Walters. "In a collaborative fashion, I look forward to making the kind of changes that will position this organization for both the present and the future."

The Bombers will try to end a four-game losing streak when they host Hamilton on Friday.
