New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Davis had 32 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks and New Orleans beat Denver 111-107 in overtime on Sunday.
Anthony Morrow nailed a jumper from the top of the key with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game for New Orleans.
"I drove hard to get to that spot I wanted to be in. I knew Ty (Lawson) was a little bit shorter, so I wanted to shoot over him and I was able to get my shot off," Morrow said of the key bucket.
New Orleans went 4-for-8 from the field in overtime, while the Nuggets went 5- for-13.
Tyreke Evans netted 20 points -- seven in overtime -- for the Pelicans, who have won three straight on the heels of eight straight losses.
Kenneth Faried had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Nuggets, who have lost seven of their last nine.
Evans tied the game at 104 apiece with 1:46 left in overtime after seven lead changes in the extra session. Davis made a pair from the line followed by an Evans layup with 55.7 to play to put New Orleans ahead by four.
Evans then made two from the charity stripe with 14.6 left to make the lead 110-104, and the Nuggets didn't score in the final two minutes until Evan Fournier made a trey just before the buzzer.
Morrow netted 14, Austin Rivers had 13 and Eric Gordon added 10 points for New Orleans, which hosts Memphis on Wednesday.
Ty Lawson and Aaron Brooks each scored 15 points, with Lawson adding 12 assists for Denver, which travels to Charlotte for game two of a five-game road trip.
J.J. Hickson had 12 points and nine rebounds and Wilson Chandler and Timofey Mozgov scored 14 and 10, respectively in defeat.
Denver jumped out to an early 11-2 lead in the first 3:14 of the game. The Nuggets then used a 12-2 run to take a 15-point lead with 4:07 left in the first. New Orleans pulled within 29-17 at the end of the quarter.
The Pelicans began the second quarter with an 8-2 run, however, Denver responded with a 15-4 spurt to take a 16-point lead, 46-30, with five minutes left in the first half. New Orleans trailed 54-43 at the half.
Gordon sparked a 16-4 surge for the Pelicans to cut the deficit to 62-61 with 6:09 left in the third.
The Nuggets stretched the margin back to five, however, New Orleans ended the third on a 10-5 run to knot the game at 73 apiece heading into the final frame.
"We let them get back in the game. It's something about us and this team this year, we don't have that killer instinct quite yet," Faried said.
The Pelicans started the fourth with a 9-2 run to take an 82-75 lead. Just over a minute later Denver used a 13-1 surge to go ahead 90-85 with 4:40 left on the clock.
With just over a minute left New Orleans trailed 94-90. Brian Roberts nailed a pair from the line to make the deficit two for the Pelicans before the Morrow jumper at the end of the fourth.
Davis recorded the 50th double-double of his career ... The Pelicans are now 6-1 in games decided by five points or fewer ... The Nuggets face Orlando, Miami, and Atlanta after Charlotte to complete their five-game road trip.
