Description: Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton is a career .471 hitter (8-for-17) with a pair of home runs and a 1.432 OPS against Minesota starter Mike Pelfrey.
Insight: Stanton missed a week because of a shoulder injury and is 4-for-18 since his return, but has yet to hit a home run and is struggling just to put the bat on the ball. Despite the favorable matchup, Stanton (.188) is a tough start as pitchers have already learned to pitch around him due to the weak surrounding cast.

Insight: At least it isn't something more serious and the Marlins are listing Stanton as day-to-day. It's doubtful we see Stanton in the lineup this weekend but it wouldn't be surprising if he came back for Miami's series versus Washington later in the week.

Insight: Playing in cavernous Petco Park is great for pitchers, but takes a toll on hitters, even ones with as much power as Stanton. The 23-year-old Stanton hit .290 with 37 homers, 86 RBI and a league-leading .608 slugging percentage in 123 games last season and has 93 homers in 373 career games.
