Description: It's now official - Carlos Beltran signed his three-year, $45 million contract with the New York Yankees after passing the physical.
Insight: Beltran should see plenty of time in right field, keeping eligible for the outfield along with time at DH to try and keep him in the lineup on a daily basis. He played 296 games and hit .282 with 56 homers, 181 RBI and an .836 OPS with the Cardinals over the last two seasons. The Yankees will be his sixth team in 17 seasons and the second time in New York.

Insight: If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? After losing to the Red Sox in the World Series, Beltran is now strongly considering playing for them in 2014. With Jacoby Ellsbury likely to leave in free agency, the Red Sox should have an opening in the outfield next season. If Beltran signs with Boston, Shane Victorino would move to center field.
