Description: Padres left-hander Cory Luebke will need a second Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2014 season, according to padres.mlb.com.
Insight: Luebke underwent his first surgery in May 2012 and suffered multiple setbacks before throwing off a mound without issues late in 2013. However, an MRI revealed he re-tore his UCL. Luebke, who is now 28 years old, looked to have a bright future when he put up a 3.16 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and 177 strikeouts over 170 2/3 innings in 2011 and 2012 but he has another long recovery period ahead of him.

Description: According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Padres manager Bud Black said that it is "unlikely" Cory Luebke will be able to pitch in the majors this season.
Insight: Luebke has suffered multiple setbacks in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last May.

Description: According to 1090 AM in San Diego, Padres manager Bud Black has acknowledged that lefthander Cory Luebke might not be able to pitch this season.
Insight: Luebke is still rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The best case scenario is that Luebke will be back in the rotation by mid-August.

5/21/2012 8:03:00 PM
Description: Cory Luebke will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on his left elbow on Wednesday.
Insight: It looked like Luebke was on the cusp of fantasy greatness this season after flashing tons of potential as a rookie in 2011 (6-10, 3.29 ERA) but this injury will certainly set him back a bit. Tommy John surgery typically takes a year to recover from so don't expect to see the young lefthander in uniform for the Padres again until the middle of the 2013 season.

5/9/2012 2:35:00 PM
Description: Dan Hayes of the North County Times is reporting that Cory Luebke (elbow) will get a second opinion from Dr. Lewis Yocum on Thursday.
Insight: Tommy John surgery is likely for the lefty after an MRI revealed ligament damage in his pitching elbow.

5/4/2012 8:01:00 PM
Description: According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Cory Luebke may need Tommy John surgery.
Insight: Luebke had an MRI on Wednesday and the Padres are waiting to receive the results. With a 3-1 record, 2.61 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in five starts this season, Luebke is a budding star, so losing him would be devastating for fantasy owners.

5/2/2012 7:21:00 PM
Description: Cory Luebke has been placed on the 15-day DL because of left elbow soreness. The move is retroactive to April 28th.
Insight: Luebke has been very solid for the Padres in 2012 (3-1, 2.61 ERA) and he should be available again as soon as it's been 15 days. For now, veteran Jeff Suppan will assume Luebke' spot in the rotation.

4/21/2012 10:54:00 PM

Insight: Luebke had a poor first outing but has only given up two runs in his past three starts, spanning 20 1/3 innings.
