Description: Angels outfielder/1B Brad Hawpe will get a rare start on Wednesday afternoon as Mark Trumbo will get the day off and Albert Pujols will DH.
Insight: Hawpe was an All-Star for the Rockies in 2009, but hasn't done much since then. He batted .305 at Salt Lake in the PCL before getting the call up by the Angels.

6/19/2012 7:45:00 PM
Description: The Rangers have released minor league outfielder Brad Hawpe.
Insight: Hawpe wanted to be released and Texas granted his request. The soon to be 33-year-old is now a free agent. Hawpe was an All-Star for the Rockies in 2009. This season for Double-A Frisco, he was hitting .260 with 3 HRs and 12 RBIs in 35 games.

3/30/2012 2:59:00 PM
Description: Brad Hawpe has been released by the Texas Rangers.
Insight: Hawpe was an All-Star as recently as 2009, but hasn't been fantasy-worthy for the past two years and it appears that 2012 will also be a lost season.

Description: Brad Hawpe has agreed to a one-year deal with San Diego. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: He will play 1B for them even though some sort of platoon will likely be involved. San Diego's home park, combined with his poor 2009 season makes him a poor bet in mixed leagues.

Description: Brad Hawpe has declined arbitration from the Rays. SOURCE: Jon Heyman via Twitter
Insight: Hawpe had a down year in 2010; coupled with declining defense he is most likely a DH-candidate. With other big names available, Hawpe could remain unsigned into 2011.

9/11/2010 8:27:00 PM
Description: Rangers DH Brad Hawpe went 2-5, including a grand slam, leading the Rays past the Jays.
Insight: Hawpe is still primarily a pinch hitter for the rays, so don't expect more than 10 at bats per week for him.

8/27/2010 5:31:00 PM
Description: The Rays primarily plan on using Brad Hawpe as a left-handed DH. SOURCE: MARC TOPKIN ON TWITTER
Insight: He could play often against right-handers if he can hit well. The way he has been hitting this year, we can't expect too much.

8/27/2010 10:39:00 AM
Description: Brad Hawpe has decided to sign with the Rays after he was released by the Rockies last week. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal on Twitter
Insight: Hawpe has struggled with the Rockies this season and he may not get enough AB's in Tampa to prove himself. He's not going to play every day either, so think carefully about this one.
