Description: The Astros will exercise a $900,000 club option on OF Jason Michaels; he hit .253 with eight homers and 26 RBIs for the Astros this season. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Michaels only has fantasy value in deeper NL-only leagues.
4/5/2010 11:15:00 AM
Description: The Houston Chronicle reports Michaels (back) missed Saturday's exhibition game with a "stinger" in his back.
Insight: Michaels is considered day-to-day at this point. (

Description: Michaels made a rare start for the Astros and went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Insight: Michaels only has 11 at bats in July. He really doesn't deserve much attention in fantasy leagues unless the Astros suffer a rash of injuries to their outfielders. He is hitting .179 this season. (
Steady4/26/2009 10:05:00 AM
Description: Michaels is mainly a fourth/fifth outfielder for the Astros, but he has hit well when inserted into the lineup.
Insight: Michaels has now been in the league for eight years and he has only had more than 300 at bats once (in 2006 with the Indians when he had 32 doubles). He is used mostly as a pinch hitter - not much fantasy value. (
Steady3/10/2009 9:46:00 AM
Description: Michaels, who is nursing a sore hamstring, ran the bases and should be back on the field in the next week, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Michaels is a decent bench player who is now on his fourth franchise. He hit eight homers in 234 at bats last year with the Pirates and Indians. If the Astros have injuries in the outfield, Michael could get some playing time. (
