Description: The A's have signed former White Sox and Astros starter Philip Humber to a minor league contract. SOURCE: Matt Eddy, Baseball America

Description: Houston starter Philip Humber has been designated for assignment.
Insight: Even the Astros have to draw the line somewhere. Humber fell to 0-8 after Saturday's loss to Texas, watching his ERA skyrocket from 8.49 to 9.59 in the process. The perfect game Humber threw for the White Sox last April now seems like a distant memory.

Description: Astros starter Philip Humber was bombed for eight hits and eight earned runs in just 1/3 of an inning Saturday night against the Indians.
Insight: Houston has had a starter fail to get out of the first inning three times in the past five games. Humber's first three outings were strong, but his latest one offsets those. He's now 0-4 with a 6.63 ERA.

Description: Astros starter Philip Humber is 0-3, but he has a 2.89 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.
Insight: Humber has allowed six earned in 18 2/3 innings, but Houston has scored just one run combined in his three starts. The right-hander had a 6.44 ERA and 1.54 WHIP last season, but he did have a 3.75 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 2011 and threw a perfect game last April for the White Sox.

Description: Houston has taken a shot on Phil Humber, claiming the right-hander off waivers from the White Sox.
Insight: The move would have been a positive one in the past if only because it would have moved Humber to the lighter hitting National League. However, with Houston slated to move to the AL West in 2013, Humber will find himself stuck in the league in which he posted a 6.44 ERA in 102 innings in 2012.
8/6/2012 9:28:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Phil Humber will move to the bullpen and the team will go back to a five-man rotation, Chicago manager Robin Ventura said Monday according to ESPN Chicago.
Insight: Humber has allowed 59 runs in 73 2/3 innings since throwing a perfect game on April 21. He can be dropped in all fantasy formats.
7/22/2012 5:04:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Phil Humber reverted to form Sunday against Detroit, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in three innings.
Insight: Humber held Boston to two runs in six innings his last time out, but he's now allowed four earned runs or more in five of his last seven starts.
7/17/2012 10:43:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Phil Humber returned from the disabled list with a strong performance Tuesday against Boston.
Insight: Humber held Boston to two runs on six hits in six innings Tuesday. More importantly, he walked none, the first time he's accomplished that since his perfect game on April 21.
6/22/2012 6:18:00 PM
Description: White Sox starter Phil Humber has been placed on the disabled list Friday with a right elbow flexor strain.
Insight: Humber was awful after throwing a perfect game in April, going 2-4 with a 7.47 ERA in 10 starts. He won't be back anytime soon, so you can go ahead and drop him in all formats.
5/29/2012 10:13:00 PM
Description: On Tuesday, White Sox starter Philip Humber picked up his first win since he threw a perfect game on April 21. Humber held Tampa Bay to two runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out five.
Insight: Humber has thrown quality starts in three of his last four turns, but he gave up five runs against Minnesota his last time out so it's good to see him get back on track on Tuesday. Hopefully he can build off this and keep things going in the right direction, as things haven't gone well for the Chicago right-hander since he became the 21st player in MLB history to throw a perfect game.
5/18/2012 7:40:00 PM
Description: Philip Humber gave up two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings against the Cubs on Friday.
Insight: Humber has tossed two straight quality starts and appears to have things back on track after struggling in the three starts following his perfect game.
5/13/2012 5:38:00 PM
Description: Philip Humber bounced back from his recent struggles on Sunday. The White Sox right-hander allowed one run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Insight: Humber struck out seven and shut out the Royals through six. However, Kansas City scored nine runs over the final three innings, eight of which came against Chicago's bullpen, so Humber was unable to pick up his first win since his perfect game on April 21.
5/7/2012 2:50:00 PM
Description: Philip Humber has been anything but perfect in his last three starts. In his latest turn on Monday afternoon at Cleveland, the righty gave up eight runs on nine hits with two walks in 2 1/3 innings.
Insight: Humber has given up 20 runs in the three starts following his perfect game on April 21. Don't drop him just yet but let him get his head straight before you start him again.
4/26/2012 10:35:00 PM
Description: Philip Humber struggled in his follow-up act to last Saturday's perfect game. The Red Sox hammered the 29-year-old for nine runs and eight hits on Thursday night.
Insight: Humber threw 115 pitches in five innings of action and is currently on the hook for the loss, assuming Boston holds onto its current six-run lead. That's not always a safe assumption though as the Red Sox had a nine-run advantage against New York last week and ended up losing by six.
4/26/2012 11:05:00 AM
Description: Philip Humber will start on Thursday against Boston, five days after he threw the 21st perfect game in MLB history.
Insight: The Red Sox are coming off a three-game sweep at Minnesota in which they scored 24 runs. However, there's no way you can sit Humber tonight coming off a perfect game.
4/21/2012 6:33:00 PM
Description: 27 up, 27 down, Phillip Humber became the 21st pitcher in MLB history to throw a perfect game on Saturday.
Insight: Humber struck out nine and threw 95 pitches, 67 for strikes. He struck out Brenden Ryan on a 3-2 pitch for the final out, getting Ryan on a check swing. The ball got by catcher A.J. Pierzynski but he chased it down and was able to throw out Ryan at first, as Ryan had hesitated to argue with the umpire. Humber went 9-9 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.18 WHIP last season and seems ready to improve on those numbers this year.
4/10/2012 8:41:00 PM
Description: Phillip Humber will get skipped in the White Sox rotation because of Tuesday's rainout.
Insight: Manager Robin Ventura opted to stay with his original plan of having John Danks pitch Wednesday instead of moving everyone in the rotation back a day. Humber (9-9 with a 3.75 ERA last season) is in line to make his first start of the season Monday against Baltimore.
