American League Game Summary - Chicago at LA Angels of Anaheim

(Sunday, June 8)

Final Score: LA Angels of Anaheim 4, Chicago 2

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - C.J. Wilson pitched into the eighth inning and Josh Hamilton knocked in three runs, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

Wilson (7-5) struck out six batters in 7 1/3 innings and gave up one run on three hits and two walks, ending a two-start losing streak.

"They put the ball in play so I had to put balls in the strike zone to get guys out," said Wilson. "Ground-ball outs helped me a lot today. I didn't have much in the tank. I've been sick the last couple of days but I made the most of what I had."

The Angels finished off their third sweep of the season a day after winning Saturday's game with an eighth-inning rally that included Mike Trout's grand slam.

The White Sox ended a 2-4 road trip. Jose Quintana (3-6) took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Wilson didn't allow a hit until Gordon Beckham's leadoff single in the fourth inning and faced just one batter over the minimum through six.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said the left-hander was "great."

"We couldn't get anything going," Ventura said. "We were flat. We couldn't get anybody on base."

The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the third on Hamilton's RBI double over right fielder Moises Sierra's head that scored Trout from second base.

Hamilton drove in Trout and Howie Kendrick with a single in the fifth and C.J. Cron added an RBI base hit in the inning to make it 4-0 and chase Quintana from the game.

Hamilton had seven hits in the series, raising his batting average to .400 in 14 games this season.

"The last two days I've done well against quality lefties," said Hamilton, who bats from the left side. "It helps the confidence. Hopefully this will continue. I'm not surprised how things are going -- I'm excited."

Wilson came out after walking Tyler Flowers with one out in the eighth. Alejandro De Aza greeted reliever Joe Smith with a double and Conor Gillaspie and Adam Eaton followed with RBI singles to score Chicago's two runs.

Ernesto Frieri gave up a one-out double to Dayan Viciedo in the ninth and intentionally walked Adam Dunn with two down before striking out Adrian Nieto to complete the sweep and secure his 10th save.

Game Notes

Los Angeles stranded 11 runners on base, going 3-for-12 with men in scoring position ... The Angels will continue a six-game homestand Monday against Oakland ... The White Sox will start a nine-game homestand Monday against Detroit.
