McCann homers twice, Yankees power past Red Sox

Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Brian McCann hit his first two homers in a Yankees uniform Saturday, helping New York beat the Boston Red Sox by a 7-4 margin in the third game of a four-game series.

Kelly Johnson, Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Beltran also homered for the Yankees, who bounced back from Friday's 4-2 loss.

Japanese right-hander Hiroki Kuroda (2-1) gave up four runs on six hits while striking out five over 6 1/3 innings.

A.J. Pierzynski hit a two-run homer for the Red Sox, who went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven. Mike Carp had two RBI.

John Lackey (2-1) got the start for Boston and allowed six runs on 10 hits -- including four homers -- while striking out six over 5 2/3 innings.

Both the Red Sox and Yankees entered Saturday's game with a 5-6 record, marking the first time both clubs have entered their 12th game of a season with a losing record since 1997, when both teams also started 5-6.
