Royals avoid arbitration with Crow

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals and reliever Aaron Crow have agreed to terms on a one-year contract for the upcoming 2014 season, the club announced Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Crow, eligible for salary arbitration for the first time in his career, has compiled a 14-10 record with a 3.19 earned run average over 187 appearances out of the bullpen for Kansas City over the last three seasons. The right- hander went 7-5 with a 3.38 ERA and one save over 57 games in 2013, setting a personal high for wins and tying for second among American League relievers in that category.

A first-round draft pick by the Royals in 2009, Crow earned a spot on the AL All-Star team in 2011 and finished that year with a 4-4 record and a 2.76 ERA in 57 outings.

Crow's signing leaves All-Star closer Greg Holland as Kansas City's lone arbitration-eligible player yet to come to terms.
