Mickelson charges into share of lead

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Phil Mickelson birdied two of the first three holes on Sunday to jump into a share of the lead during the final round of the PGA Championship.

Mickelson moved to 12-under par for the championship and he shared the lead with Rory McIlroy, Bernd Wiesberger and Rickie Fowler. McIlroy 3-putted for bogey on the third to fall to minus-12, while Wiesberger has parred the first three holes.

Mickelson, the 2005 PGA Champion, poured in a 29-footer for birdie on the first. After a par at two, he stuck his tee shot to 10 feet at the par-3 third. Mickelson rolled that in to move to minus-12.

McIlroy parred the first two holes, then left a 34-foot birdie putt five feet short at No. 3. He missed that putt right and lost sole possession of the lead.

Fowler, who bogeyed the second and birdied the third, made a 6-footer for birdie on No. 4 to gain a piece of the lead. Stenson tapped in a short birdie putt at five to also grab a share of the lead.

Ernie Els is also making a big move as he is 6-under par through 11 holes to reach 11-under for the championship. He is one off the lead and was joined there by Mikko Ilonen, who is 2-under after four holes.
