NCAA Game Summary - U-A-B at S-M-U

Final Score: SMU 28, UAB 7

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Zach Line ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns as the SMU Mustangs bested the UAB Blazers, 28-7, in a Conference USA matchup at Ford Stadium.

Kyle Padron passed for 145 yards and two scores on 18-of-33 tosses for the Mustangs (1-1, 1-0 CUSA). He also ran for 66 yards on nine carries. Darius Johnson caught seven balls for 45 yards and two touchdowns.

David Isabelle was 7-of-15 through the air for the Blazers (0-2, 0-1 CUSA) for 109 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 34 yards. Pat Shed ran for 42 yards for the Blazers on eight carries.

The Blazers took the first lead of the night when Mike Jones caught a four- yard pass from Isabelle midway through the first quarter.

Line, who was recruited as a linebacker, scored on runs of five and three yards seven minutes apart to give the Mustangs a 14-7 lead with just under five minutes left in the first half.

SMU extended its lead when Padron hit Johnson with a five-yard scoring pass just inside the five-minute mark of the third quarter.

The pair hooked up again midway through the fourth quarter, this time on a 15- yard connection to complete the scoring.

SMU had the edge in time of possession, 36:35 to 23:25, and ran for 247 yards compared to just 108 by UAB.
