Krautman's second field goal of the afternoon, this one from 41 yards, gave Syracuse a 6-3 edge early in the third quarter.
South Florida regained the lead immediately when Lindsay Lamar returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.
However, the Orange continued to fight, and in the fourth quarter the team used a 14-play, 98-yard drive that was capped off by Nassib's winning touchdown pass.
