Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Kevin Goessling kicked a 35-yard field goal on the game's final play to give the Fresno State Bulldogs a 30-28 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Goessling kicked three field goals in the second half to lift Fresno State (7-4, 6-2 WAC) to its sixth win in its last seven starts. Ryan Colburn was just 17-of-42 for Fresno State but threw for 182 yards and a touchdown. Rouse ran for 75 yards.
Daniel Porter ran for 137 yards for Louisiana Tech (3-8, 2-5), which lost its fifth straight. Ross Jenkins was 14-of-22 for 206 yards through the air and four touchdowns. Dennis Morris caught seven balls for 131 yards and three scores.
Morris caught a 50-yard pass from Jenkins just 23 seconds into the game to give Louisiana Tech a 7-0 lead. Colburn connected with Seyl Ajirotutu with a 23-yard pass seven minutes later to tie the game.
Ben Jacobs then gave Fresno State a 14-7 lead with a 21-yard fumble return, but Jenkins tied the game when he found Morris on a 12-yard scoring pass four minutes later.
Fresno State regained the lead a minute into the second quarter on Lonyae Miller's five-yard run. Jenkins and Morris connected again three minutes later, this time on a 39-yard throw, to tie the game at 21.
Goessling's first field goal, a 24-yarder, gave Fresno State a 24-21 lead midway through the third period.
Louisiana Tech took the lead for the last time when Jenkins hit Cruz Williams with a 36-yard scoring pass with five minutes left in the third quarter.
Groessling brought Fresno State to within a point a 28-27 with a 23-yard field goal two minutes into the fourth quarter. His game-winning kick capped a 68- yard, 16-play drive.
The two teams combined for 794 yards in total offense.
Fresno State helped its cause by going 4-for-4 on fourth-down conversions.
