(Saturday, October 17th) Final Score: Fresno State 41, San Jose State 21 Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Ryan Matthews ran for 233 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries to power the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 41-21 victory over the San Jose State Spartans in Western Athletic Conference action. Ryan Colburn threw a pair of touchdown passes for Fresno State (3-3, 2-1 WAC). Jordan La Secla threw for 143 yards and a score in the lopsided loss for San Jose State (1-5, 0-2). San Jose State actually got off to a strong start, as La Secla threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jalal Beauchman just over a minute into the contest to give the Spartans a 7-0 lead. Fresno State tied the score at 7-7 with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Colburn to Devon Wylie midway through the opening period. The Spartans then jumped back in front by a 14-7 margin on a seven-yard touchdown run by Brandon Rutley. To open the second quarter, Fresno State scored three unanswered touchdowns to grab a 28-14 advantage. Robbie Rouse reached the end zone on a three-yard run, Colburn threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Marlon Moore, and Matthews scampered 59 yards to paydirt. Then, as time expired in the first half, Kevin Goessling nailed a 40-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 31-14 lead at intermission. After a scoreless third quarter, Fresno State continued its dominance in the final stanza. Moore caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Ebahn Feathers, and Goessling added a 46-yard field goal to make the score 41-14.
