NCAA Game Summary - Tulane at SMU

Final Score: SMU 26, Tulane 21

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Shawnbrey McNeal rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns to lead the SMU Mustangs to a 26-21 victory over the Tulane Green Wave in a Conference-USA battle at Gerald Ford Stadium.

Kyle Pardon threw for 264 yards for SMU (7-5, 6-2 C-USA), while Zach Line added 27 rushing yards and one score on the ground.

Ryan Griffin threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns for Tulane (3-9, 1-7), while Andre Anderson rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown.

McNeal opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run early in the opening frame.

The Green Wave evened the score later in the first quarter when Griffin connected with Jeremy Williams for a five-yard touchdown pass.

SMU scored the only points in the second quarter, beginning with a 31-yard field goal by Matt Szymanski.

The Mustangs pushed their lead to 17-7 with a three-yard touchdown run by Line late in the second stanza.

The Green Wave wasted little time after the break, as Griffin hit Williams with a 46-yard scoring strike, cutting Tulane's deficit to 17-14.

Szymanski booted a 37-yard kick late in the third quarter to push SMU's advantage to 20-14.

Tulane took its first lead of the contest early in the final stanza when Anderson plunged into the end zone on a one-yard run.

However, the Mustangs responded with a four-yard touchdown run by McNeal, but the team's two-point conversion was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 26-21 in favor of SMU.

The Mustangs racked up 445 total yards in the contest, while Tulane posted just 345 yards.
