Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Jacquizz Rodgers ran for a career-best 189 yards and four touchdowns, carrying the Oregon State Beavers past the Stanford Cardinal, 38-28, in Pac-10 play at Reser Stadium.
Jacquizz Rodgers carried the ball 33 times for OSU (4-2, 2-1 Pac-10) and he also had five receptions for 82 yards. Brother, James Rodgers, caught six balls for 78 yards and a score, while Sean Canfield completed 22-of-32 pass attempts for 290 yards and a touchdown.
Toby Gerhart carried the ball 20 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns for Stanford (4-2, 3-1), which saw its three-game win streak come to an end. Andrew Luck completed just 12-of-30 tosses for the Cardinal, but he still finished with 226 yards and two touchdowns.
Jacquizz Rodgers scored on runs of seven and 12 yards, respectively, in the first quarter and OSU jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one period.
Just over five minutes into the second quarter, Jacquizz Rodgers scurried in from two yards away for the Beavers.
Stanford got on the board midway through the second quarter when Chris Owusu pulled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Luck.
The Beavers responded with a 16-yard scoring strike from Canfield to James Rodgers. Justin Kahut hit a 31-yard field goal on the last play of the first half and OSU took a 31-7 lead to the intermission.
The lone score of the third quarter was a seven-yard touchdown pass from Luck to Jim Dray.
Jacquizz Rodgers put the finishing touches on his terrific performance with a five-yard touchdown run just seconds into the fourth quarter that extended OSU's lead to 38-14.
Gerhart had touchdown runs of a 11 and two yards, respectively, in the fourth quarter, but Stanford still fell short, 38-28.
OSU outgained Stanford, 463-375, and converted 8-of-15 third down chances compared to a 1-of-9 effort by the Cardinal.
