Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Josh Neiswander completed 21-of-36 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown as the Montreal Alouettes downed the Saskatchewan Roughriders, 17-12, on Sunday.
Duron Carter caught six passes for 152 yards and a touchdown for the Alouettes (5-8), who stopped a three-game losing streak.
Darian Durant was 24-for-46 passing for 339 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions for the Roughriders (8-5), losers in four straight. Chris Getzlaf had six catches for 124 yards and Weston Dressler finished with 92 yards and a touchdown on six grabs in the setback.
The sides exchanged singles in the first quarter before Montreal punter Sean Whyte conceded in the end zone to give the Roughriders a 3-1 edge early in the second frame.
Whyte added a 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the first half to make 4-3 in Montreal's favor.
After a Saskatchewan single tied the game at 4-4, Neiswander found Carter for a 45-yard touchdown pass to give the Alouettes an 11-4 edge with just under two minutes left in the third quarter.
Durant's 24-yard touchdown pass to Dressler tied the game with 11:55 to go in the fourth.
Whyte drilled a 40-yard field goal three minutes later to put the Alouettes up 14-11, but the Riders picked up a single less than two minutes afterward to pull within two.
Whyte's 19-yard field goal with 2:28 to go put Montreal up 17-12.
With the loss, Saskatchewan fell two points behind the B.C. Lions for the second seed in the Western Conference ... Jerald Brown, Chip Cox and Geoff Tisdale each had an interception for Montreal, while Scott Paxson registered a pair of sacks ... The Roughriders will visit British Columbia next week.
