NCAA Game Summary - North Texas at Oklahoma

Final Score: Oklahoma 95, North Texas 82

Norman, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Buddy Hield scored 23 points and four other Sooners finished in double figures to lift Oklahoma to a 95-82 victory over the North Texas Mean Green in a Coaches vs. Cancer matchup at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Tyler Neal provided a spark off the bench with 12 points for the Sooners (2-0), while Je'Lon Hornbeak, Ryan Spangler and Cameron Clark netted 11 points apiece. Spangler was the leading rebounder for the Sooners with nine boards.

Alzee Williams led the Mean Green (1-1) with 24 points while Chris Jones finished with 16 points. Jordan Williams contributed 13 points and Keith Coleman registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

After trailing early in the contest, Oklahoma used runs of 8-0 and 9-0 to jump in front by as many as 14 points before entering halftime leading, 48-38. The Sooners connected on 52.6 percent of their attempts from the field and 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of action. North Texas shot just 41.7 percent from the floor including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.

In the second stanza, the Sooners continued their strong shooting performance, making 53.3 percent of their field goal tries. The Mean Green improved to hit on 48.4 percent of their shots from the floor. North Texas closed to within four points midway through the second half but the Sooners were able to hold them off with 13 makes at the charity stripe after the break.

Oklahoma converted 16 North Texas turnovers into 22 points. The Mean Green had a slight, 39-36 edge on the boards.
