NCAA Game Summary - Cornell at Notre Dame

Notre Dame, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Pat Connaughton registered a double- double with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish posted a convincing 101-67 win over the Cornell Big Red in a non- conference matchup at Purcell Pavilion.

The Irish (5-1) had a total of six players score in double figures as Jerian Grant tallied a game-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, followed by Eric Atkins with 19 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Garrick Sherman pitched in with 12 points, Demetrius Jackson 11 and Zach Auguste 10 points, the latter also clearing nine boards in just 17 minutes off the bench.

Nolan Cressler led the way for Cornell (0-9) with 17 points and nine rebounds, followed by Robert Hatter and Dwight Tarwater with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Big Red opened the meeting on an 8-0 run, but the host then came alive with a 10-0 run of its own and never looked back as the Irish produced a 41-32 edge at the break.

In the second half Notre Dame knocked down a sizzling 62.2 percent from the floor, including 8-of-13 behind the 3-point line, as it ran away with the lopsided outcome.

In addition to shooting 54.3 percent from the field for the game, the Irish also held a 43-27 rebounding advantage and turned the ball over just five times.

Cornell, which is now 1-8 all-time against the Fighting Irish, has lost 14 straight games going back to last season.
