GAME NOTES: The Citadel Bulldogs hit the road to tangle with the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference matchup at Benjamin Johnson Arena.

The Citadel sits in fifth place in the conference's South Division. On Thursday night, the Bulldogs picked up a 68-57 home win over Furman.

As for the Terriers, they fell to the College of Charleston on Thursday night, 55-50. Wofford is currently in fourth place in the SoCon South Division with one game left in the regular season. In the new seeding format for the SoCon Tournament, the Terriers can finish anywhere between eighth and eleventh.

Wofford and The Citadel have played 94 times in a series that dates back to 1921. The Terriers have a 48-44 lead, and they have won 11 of the last 12 meetings. However, the Bulldogs won the first meeting this season, 69-63, in Charleston on Jan. 31.

Mike Groselle matched a season high with 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six steals to lead The Citadel past Furman on Thursday night. P.J. Horgan and Dylen Setzekorn each added 11 points off the bench for the Bulldogs, while Marshall Harris III and Raemond Robinson dished out nine and eight assists, respectively.

The Bulldogs are being outscored by nearly nine points per tilt, averaging 64.6 ppg and giving up 73.2 ppg. Groselle is the go-to-guy with team-leading averages of 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Matt Van Scyoc chips in 11.2 ppg and Harris III hands out 5.3 apg. Harris III has been steady while running the show for The Citadel, as his 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio is second-best among SoCon players. As a collective unit, the Bulldogs are the top shooting team in the league, hitting 45.6 percent of their field goal attempts. Conversely, they allow their opponents to shoot 46.8 percent from the floor, worst in the SoCon.

Wofford was defeated by the College of Charleston on Thursday night at TD Arena. The Terriers were led by Karl Cochran with 23 points, while Lee Skinner finished with seven points and seven rebounds. Wofford shot 32.2 percent from the floor, while the CofC shot 46.7 percent. The Terriers were 5-of-20 from with 3-point range. The Cougars had a 44-27 lead on the glass. Wofford had only five turnovers, while Charleston had 16.

Cochran leads the team with 16.0 ppg, while Spencer Collins (12.4 ppg) and Skinner (10.0 ppg) have made solid contributions as well. The three are the only Wofford players averaging in double figures this season, while Skinner leads the team with 7.2 rpg. The Terriers struggle on offense, putting up a meager 58.2 ppg (334th in nation and last in the SoCon), but they are a force at the defensive end, yielding just 58.9 ppg (25th in nation and best in the conference).

Expect the Terriers' defensive prowess to win the day and overcome their offensive woes, as Wofford pull out a close one at home.
