=== Raptors slip by Lakers ===

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Jose Calderon posted 22 points and nine assists
as the Toronto Raptors held off the Los Angeles Lakers, 108-103, at Air Canada
 Centre.

Landry Fields added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ed
Davis also poured in 18 points and Alan Anderson netted 14 for Toronto, which
 snapped a four-game slide.

"We played well enough this week to win a couple of games, but we didn't,"
Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "Today, our guys stayed together, followed the
game plan and played together as a team."

Kobe Bryant paced Los Angeles with 26 points on 10-of-32 shooting and Pau
Gasol finished with 25 as the Lakers dropped their second straight game.

Dwight Howard had five points, two rebounds and one assist before getting
ejected in the second quarter for receiving his second technical foul of the
 game.

Toronto raced out to an early lead by opening the game with a 19-4 run as Los
Angeles made just two of its first 11 shots.

The Lakers trailed by double digits from there until a late 11-4 push brought
them within 29-20 entering the second quarter.

Antawn Jamison then opened the second with a 3-pointer to cut Los Angeles'
deficit to six, but Toronto responded with a 15-7 trek to regain a seemingly
 comfortable cushion, 44-30.

Los Angeles, however, used another late push to get back into the game as
Metta World Peace capped a 19-7 run with a shot from beyond the arc to bring
the Lakers back within 51-49 in the closing seconds of the first half before
Calderon's jumper made it a four-point game at the break.

Toronto maintained a lead between two and eight points through the third
quarter until Anderson finished off a streak of nine straight points with a 3-
pointer to put the Raptors on top, 81-67, with 1:52 left in the frame.

Los Angeles trailed, 83-70, heading into the fourth quarter, where Kyle Lowry
dropped in a pair of triples during an early 10-0 run by Toronto that opened
up a 95-76 advantage with 7 1/2 minutes to play.

The Lakers responded with a 19-8 spurt to get back within 103-97 with 1:35
showing on the clock, but they failed to get any closer, until Bryant's
driving layup in the closing seconds accounted for the final margin as Toronto
made enough free throws down the stretch to hold them off.

"We were down, but we fought back and tried to make it close," Lakers coach
Mike D'Antoni said. "Right now on offense the ball seems to be sticking and
defensively we're having our ups and downs."
