Insight: Quentin is one of the most oft-injured players in baseball and is on track to play less than 90 games for the third straight season. In the past two he put up solid numbers when he played, but this season he's batting .178 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 129 at-bats. He's hit .120 in his last 100 at-bats.

Insight: Quentin also worked with Padres hitting coach Phil Plantier to develop a more upright batting stance. "It feels so much better," Quentin said. "I think this operation combined with my new standing taller stance is going to make a big difference next season. I didn’t realize how much torque I was putting on my right knee with my old stance from the squat. I’d swing without moving my right foot, which transferred everything to the knee."
