Oceanport, NJ (Sports Network) - Preakness Stakes contender Itsmyluckyday put in his final workout on Sunday between races at Monmouth Park.
Trained by Ed Plesa Jr., Itsmyluckyday worked a half-mile between the third and fourth races during Monmouth's second day of its 2013 meeting.
With jockey Elvis Trujillo in the saddle, Itsmyluckyday went the half-mile in 47 1/5 seconds and galloped out five furlongs in 59 3/5 seconds.
"Perfect. He did just what I wanted," said Plesa. "I caught him galloping out in :59 and change. I couldn't have asked for it to work out any better."
Trujillo rode Itsmyluckyday to a 15th-place finish in the Run for the Roses. Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez has the mount for the Preakness.
