Description: The NFL has suspended Wild defenseman Ryan Suter two games for elbowing Penguins forward Steve Downie on Tuesday.
Insight: Suter clearly stuck his elbow out and hit Downie in the face Tuesday, which knocked Downie out of the game. Downie did not return, and it was a concern that perhaps he had a concussion, but he is expected to play on Friday. Downie missed time last season with a concussion. Suter will be back next Monday.
He recorded an assist and was +4 on the evening. Suter has only four points thus far, but that number is bound to steadily increase.
Description: Wild netminder Niklas Backstrom had another terrible fantasy outing on Tuesday.
Insight: Backstrom allowed six goals before Mike Yeo finally yanked him in favor of backup John Curry. It wasn't all Backstrom's fault as the defense in front of him was awful, but it doesn't really matter for fantasy owners. Backstrom allowed six goals on 35 shots for a terrible .829 save percentage.
Description: Wild left wing Jason Zucker scored a pair of goals and an assist on Tuesday.

Description: Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (shoulder) will miss Saturday's game.
Insight: Spurgeon (2 G, 4 A, plus 7 rating) makes him a viable fantasy option this season, but he's going to miss at least the one game. He totaled five goals and 26 points last season, but is on a personal record pace through the first nine games.
Description: Wild netminder Niklas Backstrom won his first game of the season as Minnesota came back to defeat Boston on Tuesday, 4-3.

Description: Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper took his first loss of the season Friday against the Ducks.
Insight: He had two shutouts in his first two starts of the season, but could not keep that trend going on Friday. Kuemper stopped 24-of-26 shots, and is now 2-1-0 with a 0.67 goals against average and a .972 save percentage. Owners scoop him up, if Kuemper is still available.

Insight: He had a goal Saturday night against Colorado, but what should catch owners' eyes even more, is that Parise now has 19 shots through two games. He has five points on the season, along with a +5 rating. This could be the start of a career-season for Parise.
Description: Wild defenseman Ryan Suter should be pushing for 50 points this year.
Insight: He has never done it during his career, with 46 points being the most he has accumulated (2011-12 with Nashville). Suter had 43 points (8 goals, 35 assists) last season, and will have a tremendous opportunity to prouce a career-high total in 2014-15.
Description: Wild center Charlie Coyle is not fantasy-relevant heading into 2014-15.
Insight: Another young piece to Minesota's puzzle, still has a ton of room to grow. Coming off a year with 30 points in 70 games, Coyle will need to produce at a much higher rate, for owners to take a chance on him.
Description: Wild left wing Thomas Vanek will look to make a positive impact during his first season in Minnesota.
Insight: Vanek will not have as much pressure as he has had in the past, as he begins the season on the Wild's second line. Figure him to score around 60-70 points, which should result in owners drafting him around the sixth round.
Description: Wild right winger Jason Pominville is coming off a productive season in Minnesota.
Insight: After playing only 10 games during his first season with the Wild, Pominville was able to suit up for all 82 games last year. He produced nicely, with 30 goals and 30 assists, and should be able to at least duplicate those numbers in 2014-15. Target Pominville beginning in the 12th round.
Description: Wild center Mikko Koivu should be drafted late in drafts this season.
Insight: He had 11 goals and 43 assists in 65 games last year. If he can play all 82 games he should be around the 65-point mark, giving him decent fantasy value. Koivu should benefit from playing on Minnesota's talented first line.
Description: Minnesota left wing Zach Parise will look to be even more productive in 2014-15.
Insight: He had 56 points (29 goals, 27 assists) in 67 games last season, with a +10 rating. Parise should be drafted starting in the third round this year, and will have a great opportunity to be around the 70 or 80-point mark, as long as he can stay healthy.
Description: Devils defenseman Marek Zidlicky is a high-end No. 3 defenseman in fantasy this year.
Insight: Zidlicky will start the year playing the point on the Devils power play. Eventually, we expect youngster Eric Gelinas to take that role sometime this year, but Zidlicky should produce on the power play and put up solid plus/minus numbers with D-partner Bryce Salvador.
Description: Thomas Vanek has signed a three-year, $19.5 million deal with the Wild.
Insight: Minnesota will be the fourth team Vanek has played for since the start of the 2013-14 season. Vanek played for the University of Minnesota from 2002-04. He had fantasy value everywhere he went last season, producing nine points in 13 games with Buffalo, 15 points in 18 games with Montreal and 44 points in 47 games with the New York Islanders. He should challenge the 70-point mark again in 2014-15.

Description: Wild right winger Jason Pominville extended his points streak to five games on Monday.
Insight: Pominville scored his fourth goal in the last five games and 26th of the season against the Bruins. The 31-year-old was a five-time 60-point scorer from 2007 through 2012 with Buffalo but he has to stay hot if he's going to get there this season. He needs 12 points in the final games.
Description: The Sabres have dealt Matt Moulson to the Minnesota Wild along with Cody McCormick for Torrey Mitchell and draft picks. SOURCE: Buffalo News
Insight: Moulson will be a free agent after the season. The 30-year-old has 38 points in 55 games this season, including 29 in 44 games since joining the Sabres from the Islanders in the Thomas Vanek trade. It's unclear who Moulson will skate with, but he'll certainly be in a better fantasy situation than before.
Description: Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom is done for the season with an abdominal injury, according to the Star Tribune.
Insight: Backstrom had sports hernia surgery last offseason and had a terrible year, losing his job to Josh Harding while dealing with several injuries. Insight: Bryzgalov went 5-8-5 with a 3.01 GAA And a .908 SV% over 20 games in Edmonton. The Wild were in need of a backup to rookie Darcy Kuemper (11-3-2, 2.19 GAA, .924 SV%) with Niklas Backstrom dealing with injuries and ineffectiveness and Josh Harding still on injured reserve due to illness. Edmonton acquired Viktor Fasth from the Ducks Tuesday to back up Ben Scrivens.
Description: Wild center Mikko Koivu (ankle) will likely sit one of the next two games, according to the Star Tribune.

Description: Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom is questionable for Thursday's game against Edmonton with an abdominal strain.
Insight: Previously listed as doubtful, he had a decent practice on Wednesday. Backstrom (5-11-2, 3.02 GAA, .899 SV%) should be considered day-to-day. He's having an "off" season which he blames on injuries dating back to 2012-13.
Description: Minnesota center Mikko Koivu (ankle) will not play Thursday and his Olympic status is up in the air, according to the Star Tribune.
Insight: Monday was four weeks to the day since Koivu underwent ankle surgery and he hasn't even been cleared to practice with the team yet, much less play. He's been skating on his own but appears doubtful to play in the Olympics.
