GAME NOTES: Two struggling team tip-off on Saturday when the Miami-Ohio Redhawks travel to Nashville to face the Tennessee State Tigers at the Gentry Center.

The Redhawks are coming off a 69-55 setback to the University of Missouri Kansas City on Wednesday night. Sophomore guard Geovonie McKnight scored a team high 11 points for Miami-Ohio, which has lost two of the three games and is now a mere 2-6 on the season.

The Tigers are a dismal 1-11 on the season, following a 64-58 setback at Illinois State on Thursday. Tennessee State opened the season with 10 straight losses before finally earning a win, a 108-85 victory over Fisk last Sunday.

Will Felder leads Miami-Ohio with 13 ppg this season, while Reggie Johnson added 12.1 points. However, the Redhawks are an offensively challenged squad. They score an average of just 62.9 points per game , while giving up nearly 75 points per contest. Miami-Ohio has surpassed the 65-point mark in its last three games and only went above that mark once this season.

Patrick Miller leads the Tigers with 20.5 points per game, but M.J. Rhett is the only other player averaging in double figures with 10.7 points per game. He is however, a strong rebounder, grabbing 10.0 rpg.

Like their opponent, the Tigers also struggle to generate points. Scoring just 67.4 points per game, the club doesn't shoot well from beyond the arc. The Tigers have hit just 23.8 percent of its 3-pointers and defensively, they allow nearly 77 points per game.

TSU had another sub par offensive performance against the Redbirds that negated a strong effort at the other end of the court. The Tigers held ISU to a mere .333 effort, but couldn't take advantage, shooting just .344, including 5-of-22 from behind the arc. Miller led the way in the loss with 13 points and six assists, but was guilty of eight turnovers. Kennedy Eubanks just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Rhett managed just six points but did grab 12 rebounds.

Tennessee State beat Miami-Ohio in the only prior meeting of these two schools last season, 68-61, but the Redhawks have a little more this year. Even though this will likely be an ugly game, expect Miami-Ohio to escape with a rare road win.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Miami-Ohio 62, Tennessee State 58.
