Final Score: Southeast Missouri State 76, IUPUI 68
Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Stone racked up 22 points and 14 rebounds in his return to the lineup, lifting the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks to a 76-68 win over the IUPUI Jaguars in non-conference play from The Jungle.
Stone, the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year, was back on the floor after serving a two-game suspension along with Nino Johnson for violating team rules. Antonius Cleveland added 15 points and Darrian Gray scored 11 to go along with a game-high five steals for the Redhawks (2-1), winners of two straight.
The Jaguars (0-3) remain winless, despite a game-high 24 points from Ian Chiles and another 22 from backcourt mate Khufu Najee. Mitch Patton rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points in a losing effort.
Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the first half, though it was SEMO claiming a 42-35 halftime lead behind a 5-of-10 effort from 3-point range.
The Jaguars were able to hang around throughout the second half. However, Stone took over the game late in regulation by scoring seven points in the final 69 seconds to help SEMO pull out the road win.
IUPUI committed 18 turnovers in the first-ever meeting between these two programs.
