Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Scott scored 20 points as the Colorado Buffaloes rolled past the Arkansas State Red Wolves for a 93-70 victory in a non-conference contest at the Coors Event Center.
Spencer Dinwiddie scored 13 points and added five assists for the Buffaloes (4-1). George King chipped in 11 points while Jaron Hopkins added 10. Gordon Wesley paced Colorado on the glass by bringing down eight boards.
Melvin Johnson III scored 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Red Wolves (2-2). Brandon Reed had 21 points and Kirk Van Slyke chipped in 15 with six rebounds.
The Red Wolves shot a dismal 28.6 field goal percentage in the first half. This allowed Colorado to take a 46-28 lead into the intermission. The Buffaloes converted 6-of-15 shots from behind the 3-point line before halftime.
Colorado made 48.4 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half. Arkansas State improved its shooting by making 53.3 percent of its shots from the field and sinking 5-of-10 from 3-point range and cut the deficit down to just eight points at 60-52, with 12:40 remaining but the Buffaloes slowly distanced themselves on the scoreboard the rest of the way.
The Buffaloes dominated the glass and outrebounded the Red Wolves, 42-30. Colorado outscored its opponent's bench 34-0.
