Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Daniel Miller scored just nine points, but he drained the game-winning bucket in the final minute to lift the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 67-64 come-from-behind victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at McCamish Pavilion.
Robert Carter, Jr. tallied 21 points and nine rebounds for Georgia Tech (6-3), doing so on 6-of-10 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Marcus Georges-Hunt was also stellar with 20 points.
Rayvonte Rice led all scorers with 24 points as Illinois (7-1) lost for the first time this season. Joseph Bertrand chipped in 10 points for the visitors.
Georgia Tech shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first half, compared to 43.3 percent for Illinois, as it took a 36-33 lead into intermission.
The Illini took control of the game early in the second half with a 21-4 run, giving them a 12-point lead with under seven minutes to play. The Yellow Jackets climbed back in it, however, and trailing by one with 24 seconds left, Miller converted the game-winning layup. Carter, Jr. had a 2-of-2 trip at the foul line with three second left, and Tracy Abrams' 3-point attempt for Illinois at the buzzer did not fall.
Georgia Tech collected 12 offensive rebounds on the night, which led to 13 second-chance points.
