Fayetteville, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Alandise Harris scored 21 points to lead the Arkansas Razorbacks to a 89-78 triumph over the SMU Mustangs in a non-conference tilt at Bud Walton Arena.
Michael Qualls had 17 points for Arkansas (3-0) while Anthlon Bell added 11. Coty Clarke brought down eight rebounds.
Ben Moore paced the Mustangs (2-1) with 19 points. Yanick Moreira scored 15 points while Nic Moore had 12. Nick Russell chipped in 10 points, five boards and four assists.
Arkansas made 50 percent of its field goal attempts and went 8-of-14 from beyond the arc in the first half to take a sizeable, 46-30, lead into the break. SMU turned the ball over 11 times in the opening 20 minutes which the Razorbacks converted into 13 points.
SMU shot 48.6 percent from the field in the second period to narrow the deficit, but it was unable to overcome the damage from before halftime. The Razorbacks converted 20-of-25 at the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes to frustrate the Mustangs' comeback effort.
The Razorbacks won convincingly despite being outscored, 42-16 in the paint. Arkansas led from wire to wire and went ahead by as many as 24 points.
