Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan McRae paced five teammates in double figures with 21 points, as the Tennessee Volunteers took down the Auburn Tigers, 78-67, in an SEC showdown at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Jarnell Stokes tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds for Tennessee (11-5, 2-1 SEC), which has won five of six. Josh Richardson put up 15 points and four steals, while Jeronne Maymon and Antonio Barton netted 11 points apiece.
For Auburn (8-6, 0-3), losers of three straight, Chris Denson led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-18 from the field. KT Harrell chipped in 15 points and Tahj Shamsid-Deen finished with 10 points.
Tennessee shot 48.3 percent from the field in the first half while holding Auburn to just 35.5 percent shooting, as it led by five, 33-28, heading into intermission.
The Vols improved their field goal shooting in the second half (.545) as they pulled away for the 11-point win.
Tennessee led the game wire-to-wire and held a convincing 42-28 advantage on the glass.
