NCAA Game Summary - Valparaiso at Kent State

Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Kevin Van Wijk recorded 25 points as he led the Valparaiso Crusaders to an 88-83 overtime win against the Kent State Golden Flashes at the MAC Center.
Van Wijk shot 6-of-8 from the field and was 13-of-14 at the free-throw line for the Crusaders (3-1). Both Ryan Broekhoff and Erik Buggs added 15 points, while reserve Matt Kenney scored 16 and led the team in both rebounds (six) and assists (five).
Randal Holt led the Golden Flashes (2-2) with 20 points and recorded five steals. Chris Evans added 18 points and four steals, while Bryson Pope tallied 13 points off the bench Chris Brewer chipped in 11.
In the first half Valpo shot 63.2 percent from the field and carried a 36-28 lead into halftime.
KSU battled back in the second half and outscored the Crusaders 47-39. The Golden Flashes led 75-72 with four seconds left in regulation, with Buggs at the free throw line for the Crusaders. Buggs made his first attempt but missed his second and Van Wijk grabbed the offensive rebound and put the ball back up and in to tie the game in the final moments.
In overtime, the Crusaders outscored Kent State 13-8, making their last seven free throw attempts.
The Crusaders shot a highly efficient 58.1 percent from the floor which helped overcome their 20 turnovers.
