Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Michael Snaer knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 30 points, as the Florida State Seminoles claimed a 79-76 win over the Charlotte 49ers in non-league play from Time Warner Cable Arena.
Snaer returned to the court after sitting out Monday's game against ULM for disciplinary reasons. Aaron Thomas added 17 points off the bench, and Okaro White chipped in with 10 points for the Seminoles (7-4), winners of three straight.
Chris Braswell paced the 49ers (11-2) with 20 points off the bench, although he also committed a game-high five turnovers. Fellow reserve DeMario Mayfield scored 16, Terrence Williams added 10 points, and Willie Clayton finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort.
The first half featured five ties and nine lead changes, but Charlotte put together a 7-0 spurt just before the half to take a 40-35 lead into intermission.
FSU came alive in the second stanza, shooting 55 percent from the floor while holding a sizeable 18-4 scoring edge from the foul line over the final 20 minutes. The Seminoles grabbed their largest lead, 68-59, with five and a half minutes to play, but things got close down the stretch. Charlotte made it a two-point game in the final minute, but Ivan Benkovic could not get a 3- pointer to fall at the buzzer. Benkovic's final look came after Snaer sank two free throws with 11 seconds to play, and Thomas added another free throw with 3.4 seconds remaining to make it a three-point game.
Thomas came up big in the second half for FSU, as 15 of his 17 points came after halftime.
