San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Long notched a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns edged out the Texas State Bobcats, 67-66, in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at Strahan Coliseum.
Xavian Rimmer netted 16 points, including the eventual game-winner for the Ragin' Cajuns (15-9, 6-5 SBC), who have won three in a row. Elfrid Payton added 10 points.
Joel Wright logged 17 points to lead the Bobcats (7-16, 3-7), who have lost five of their last seven. Phil Hawkins and Wes Davis both scored 14 points.
The Bobcats started strong, shooting 52.2 percent from the field in the opening half. The visitors tried to keep pace with 41.9 percent, but trailed 33-31 at halftime.
In the second half the Bobcats shot an even 50 percent from the floor, but missed all five attempts from the perimeter. The Ragin' Cajuns converted just 32.1 percent, but helped their cause at the free-throw line where they hit 15- of-16. With 10 seconds left in regulation, a Rimmer 3-pointer pulled the Cajuns into the lead and proved to be the winner.
Louisiana went 19-of-21 at the line and outscored the home team 21-14 on second-chance points.
