Description: According to ESPN's John Clayton, 49ers running back Frank Gore could see 50 fewer carries in 2014 than he did last year.
Insight: Earlier this month, ESPN NFC West blogger Bill Williamson projected Gore to get 220 carries, 56 fewer than the 276 he had last season. Gore no longer contributes in the passing game so he'll be no more than a low-end RB2 with just 220 carries.

Description: ESPN.com's 49ers blogger Bill Williamson projects Frank Gore will get 220 carries in 2014.
Insight: That would be a decrease of 56 carries from last season. If he receives just 220 carries, Gore would have to increase his ypc from 4.1 to 4.6 to rush for 1,000 yards for the eighth time in the last nine years. San Francisco drafted Carlos Hyde in the second round this year and has stashed Marcus Lattimore since last year while he recovered from a serious knee injury. Because Gore no longer contributes in the passing game -- he had 51 catches per season from 2006-2010 but 61 catches total in Jim Harbaugh's three years as 49ers coach -- he would have a difficult time returning RB2 value with 220 carries.

Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore is dealing with a sore knee, but is probable for Sunday's NFC Championship against Seattle.
Insight: Gore had a tough day against Carolina, but still managed 92 yards from scrimmage. He faces another tough run defense Sunday as Seattle yielded the fewest total yards this season (4,378) and seventh fewest rushing yards (1,626).

Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore was limited in practice while dealing with an apparent ankle injury, but is active for the game against the Tampa Bay
Insight: Gore should be started as always. He's posted double-digit carries in 12 of 13 games this season and should get his normal 13-17 carries a game versus the Bucs.

Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore was limited in practice while dealing with an apparent ankle injury, but is active for the game against the Rams.
Insight: Gore played less than his normal workload in the 49ers Monday night win over Washington due to the ankle, but should be ready for normal usage versus St. Louis on Sunday.

Description: Niners halfback Frank Gore produced another solid fantasy outing Sunday against the Jaguars (19 rushes, 71 yards, 2 TD).
Insight: Gore doesn't have the jets of a C.J. Spiller or a Chris Johnson but he might be the most consistent running back in the league. He's rushed for at least 70 yards in each of his last six games with six end zone scampers over that span. Fantasy owners will miss him when he goes on bye next week.

Description: The Titans held Frank Gore to 70 rushing yards on 24 carries (2.9 ypc) Sunday afternoon, but he had 34 receiving yards on two catches and scored two touchdowns.
Insight: Gore has produced RB1 numbers -- 542 total yards, four touchdowns -- over the last five games after picking up just 95 yards on 33 touches the first two games. He's averaging 21.5 carries per game in four games since he voiced complaints about his usage to coach Jim Harbaugh.

Description: San Francisco 49ers tailback Frank Gore (knee) is probable for Thursday's game against the Rams, according to CSNBayArea.com.
Insight: Gore banged his left knee during San Francisco's loss to the Colts Sunday, but he was never in danger of missing Thursday's game. Gore had 82 yards on 11 carries against the Colts but the 49ers went away from the run, leading to Gore having some words with coach Jim Harbaugh Sunday. Look for him to carry the football early and often Thursday against a Rams team that allowed a big game to DeMarco Murray in Week 3.

Description: 49ers halfback Frank Gore was fined $10,500 by the NFL for wearing his socks too low in last week's NFC Championship game.
Insight: ESPN's Adam Schefter says Gore received a warning from the league earlier in the season before finally getting hit with the fine on Wednesday. Obviously this won't affect his fantasy value but it's still worth noting that Gore received a harsher penalty than Tom Brady, who essentially kicked Ed Reed during Sunday's AFC Championship (Brady was fined only $10,000).

Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore could be in for more of the workload with last Sunday's injury to Kendall Hunter.
Insight: Gore is averaging 16 rushing attempts per game, down slightly from last season (17.6), but could see an increase over the next few games. The 49ers haven't said who will be his primary backup. The choices are LaMichael James, Anthony Dixon and Brandon Jacobs.

Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore (ribs) is probable for Monday night against the Cardinals
Insight: Gore came out late in San Francisco's victory over Seattle last Thursday due to a rib injury. According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, Gore said he's feeling better. "It's lessened a lot," Gore said. "A lot. I'm sleeping good." You can safely start him in Week 8 even though the 49ers are playing Monday.

10/22/2012 9:02:00 PM
Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore (ribs) said he "did everything" in practice Monday and thinks he'll be fine for next Monday's game, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
Insight: Gore came out late in San Francisco's victory over Seattle last Thursday due to a rib injury. With 11 days in between games, he should be fine for Week 8.

10/19/2012 12:58:00 PM
Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore went for x-rays after Thursday's game and was diagnosed with bruised, but not broken ribs.
Insight: With 10 days until his next start, Monday night at Arizona, he should be good to go. On Thursday, Gore posted his highest rushing total of the season - 136 yards.

10/7/2012 7:26:00 PM
Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore notched his second 100-yard rushing game of the season Sunday against the Bills.
Insight: Gore has carried the ball less than 20 times in four of five games this season but that hasn't stopped him from being a valuable fantasy running back. Through five games, Gore has 432 yards and four touchdowns on 80 carries (5.4 ypc).

9/10/2012 1:57:00 PM
Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries Sunday against the Packers.
Insight: Gore's role is going to be reduced this season, especially when Brandon Jacobs returns from a knee injury, but that might not matter if the 49ers offensive line blocks as well as it did yesterday. Gore's long was only 23 yards, but he had nine carries of five-plus yards and four of 10-plus. Kendall Hunter chipped in 41 yards on nine carries.

9/7/2012 4:14:00 PM
Description: San Francisco running back Frank Gore would gain fantasy value if Brandon Jacobs (knee) can't go on Sunday and Jacobs missed Wednesday and Friday's practice after doing some jogging on Thursday.
Insight: Gore was fifth in the NFL in carries last year with 282 and rushed for 1,211 yards. While that number should be lower this season, as long as Jacobs is out of the lineup he'll be the goal line back.

5/2/2012 8:58:00 PM
Description: Matt Maiocco of Comcast Sports Bay Area has speculated that the additions of Brandon Jacobs and LaMichael James will probably mean fewer carries for Frank Gore in 2012.
Insight: Gore was fifth in the NFL in carries last year with 282. That number should be much lower next season and unfortunately so will his rushing yards.

3/28/2012 11:55:00 AM
Description: The rumored addition of Brandon Jacobs can't make Gore fantasy owners happy.
Insight: Gore saw 159 carries through the first eight games and just 123 rushes down the stretch when he was nicked up most of the time. We understand management bringing Jacobs in to help the team and lessen the load on Gore, but it will definitely lower Gore's fantasy value in 2012.

1/18/2012 10:20:00 AM
Description: San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is probable for the NFC Championship on Sunday against Atlanta with his usual knee issues.
Insight: There is no way Gore misses the Falcons game and his listing on the report is normal for the 49ers starting tailback. He rushed 23 times for 119 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 48 yards in the 49ers' Divisional Round playoff with over Green Bay, but few noticed because of Colin Kaepernick's record-setting performance.
