Western Illinois coordinator resigns abruptly
Macomb, IL (Sports Network) - Western Illinois football is seeking a defensive coordinator again after the recently hired Kevin Corless resigned due to personal reasons.
Corless, who spent nine seasons leading the defense at Arkansas State from 2002-10, as the co-defensive coordinator for seven seasons and the sole coordinator in his final two seasons, began his position at WIU on Jan. 16.
Footballcoachnews.com has linked Corless to a position at Georgia Southern.
"When Kevin talked to me about resigning from his position as defensive coordinator, he noted it was strictly due to family reasons. As a family man, I respect his reasons to resign and take a different job as a position coach at another institution," WIU head coach Mark Hendrickson said.
"I plan to have a defensive coordinator on board very soon."
