Description: Free agent RB Fred Taylor hasn't decided whether to retire yet. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Taylor backtracked earlier comments that said he admitted he is "basically retired," but he might as well hang them up. He's appeared in thirteen games while being a part of the Patriots and can't stay healthy.

Description: When speaking with reporters during a Monday morning meeting in Florida, RB Fred Taylor sounded unsure regarding whether he will retire or not. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Taylor said that because he didn't play much in 2010, he has several more years in him. Not going to happen. Not only did he just turn 35, but he showed, as a Patriot, that he simply cannot stay healthy. An unrestricted free agent, don't expect any interest once a new CBA is ironed out.

Description: After the loss to the Jets, Patriots RB Fred Taylor was reportedly emotional while discussing his future and potential retirement this offseason. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: After thirteen seasons, this is likely it for Taylor. He's entering free agency, but he won't get any interest as he is set to turn 35 in a little over a week and can't stay healthy. He will probably sign a one-day deal with the Jaguars, give a teary-eyed speech and call it quits.

Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor is expected to announce his retirement this offseason. SOURCE: BOSTON GLOBE
Insight: This was something that he should have done last year. In two seasons as a Patriot, Taylor started just one game, carried the ball 106 times and lived up to his "Fragile" nickname with injuries. He was barely a blip on the radar behind guys like BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Danny Woodhead and Sammy Morris.
11/13/2010 9:04:00 PM
Description: Taylor has been downgraded to out for Week 10.
Insight: No big deal for fantasy, as Taylor is unlikely to reclaim a primary role when he does return and the Pats face Pittsburgh this week anyway. (
11/13/2010 1:03:00 PM
Description: Taylor has been upgraded to questionable for Week 10 and appears on track to see his first game action since Week 3.
Insight: While Taylor has been missing, of course, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead have emerged as two of the team's most effective offensive tools. Taylor seems unlikely to reclaim a particularly significant role. (
11/6/2010 10:05:00 PM
Description: Taylor continued to miss practice this week and has been ruled out for the fifth straight game.
Insight: It's hard to imagine anyone still owning Taylor in fantasy at this point. (

Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (turf toe) has been ruled out against the Browns. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: At this point, it's doesn't even seem worth it to keep Taylor on the active roster. He will now have missed five-straight games.
10/31/2010 2:01:00 AM
Description: Taylor has been ruled out yet again, leaving the job to BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead.
Insight: The matchup with Minnesota isn't good for any back, but every game Taylor misses at least helps to keep clear what can be one of the league's murkiest backfield situations. (

Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor is still sitting out with a turf toe injury. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: The Ravens have been allowing a little over 100 yards a game on the ground, so BenJarvus Green-Ellis could be a decent flex option if Taylor sits again Friday.
10/13/2010 2:19:00 PM
Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (turf toe) was held out of practice for the second-straight day Wednesday. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: It's still early, but it looks like BenJarvus Green-Ellis could get another start this weekend against the Ravens.
10/12/2010 2:27:00 PM
Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (turf toe) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Considering Taylor had an extra week to rest isn't a good sign. He still has a chance to be at full participation by the end of the week, but turf toe injuries are tricky and Taylor was never one to be a quick healer.
10/12/2010 9:00:00 AM
Description: Patriots HC Bill Belichick said RB Fred Taylor is "definitely doing better" in regards to his injured toe. SOURCE: BOSTON GLOBE
Insight: With the extra week of rest, we expect Taylor to play Week Six against the Ravens. How much he plays is the big question mark. BenJarvus Green-Ellis has 174 yards off 32 carries and two rushing touchdowns the previous two weeks, with a 5.45 ypc average.
10/2/2010 11:04:00 PM
Description: As expected, Taylor has been ruled out for Week 4 because of a toe injury, leaving BenJarvus Green-Ellis as the lead back once again.
Insight: Taylor is barely worth owning in a crowded backfield that often doesn't even afford him goal-line looks. (
10/2/2010 12:12:00 PM
Description: Dealing with an injured toe, Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) missed practice again on Saturday. SOURCE: BOSTON HERALD
Insight: Because they play on Monday night against the Dolphins, the Patriots were able to hold an extra practice. Since Taylor missed practice all week, we highly doubt he will play. BenJarvus Green-Ellis will get the start and should be a viable RB2/Flex this week.
10/1/2010 12:30:00 PM
Description: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) has missed an entire week of practice. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Thomas Clayton was added to the roster, meaning BenJarvus Green-Ellis should get the start against the Dolphins this week. He makes for a very intriguing start after a strong showing in Week Three.
9/29/2010 2:26:00 PM
Description: The Patriots held RB Fred Taylor (toe) out of practice Wednesday. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Taylor aggravated the toe injury after dealing with it in practice last week. If Taylor misses Week Four, BenJarvus Green-Ellis could be worth a look against the Dolphins.
9/27/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: The toe injury that prematurely ended Taylor's game on Sunday was the same injury that limited him in practice last week.
Insight: That would seem to add to the likelihood that Taylor will miss Week 4 or at least be iffy. We'll see what the prognosis is as the week progresses. (
9/27/2010 12:02:00 AM
Description: Taylor left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a toe injury after carrying six times for 16 yards.
Insight: We've yet to hear the severity of this injury, but any ding makes him all but unusable in most fantasy leagues. Even when healthy, Taylor resides in one of the league's more-frustrating RBBCs. (
9/15/2010 2:01:00 AM
Description: Taylor took the ball most often in the Patriots backfield in Week 1, carrying 14 times for 71 yards.
Insight: The Laurence Maroney trade should only solidify Taylor's role, but New England's enigmatic rushing plans and his recent injury history make him far from safe in fantasy leagues. (
