Dolphins' Martin ruled out for Thursday's game
Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has been downgraded from doubtful to out for Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Martin missed practice the entire week with what the team called an "illness," but the story reportedly goes a little deeper than that.
According to the Miami Herald, Martin abruptly left the team after a prank apparently went wrong in the team's lunch room Monday. He hasn't been back since.
The paper said that Martin has left the team to seek treatment for emotional issues.
Martin had opened Miami's first six games of the season at left tackle before being shifted to the right side following the Dolphins' acquisition of Bryant McKinnie earlier this month. Tyson Clabo, who had been displaced from a starting role upon McKinnie's arrival, is expected to take Martin's place on Thursday.
Prior to Thursday's game, the Dolphins promoted wide receiver Ryan Spadola from the practice squad to the active roster.
