Description: Minnesota starter Phil Hughes has allowed 12 hits and eight earned runs over 10 innings in his first two starts this season.
Insight: Hughes is trying to prove that his struggles the past three seasons were mainly caused by Yankee Stadium, but he's been knocked around at U.S. Cellular Field and Target Field in his first two starts.
12/1/2013 1:02:00 PM
Description: Pitcher Phil Hughes has agreed to a three-year deal with Minnesota, according to a Minneapolis Star-Tribune report.
Insight: It's probably a good move for Hughes to get out of New York. He has talent, but hasn't shown it since around 2010. Out of the spotlight, he may yet develop into a fantasy-worthy starting pitcher.
9/24/2013 5:29:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes will start Wednesday against the Rays.
Insight: New York planned to skip Hughes' start, but with CC Sabathia (hamstring) now out for the year Hughes is needed. Fantasy owners can ignore him.

Description: The Yankees are skipping Phil Hughes' next turn in the rotation. SOURCE: Mark Feinsand, New York Daily News
Insight: He was expected to pitch on Tuesday but now Hiroki Kuroda (11-12, 3.17 ERA) will move up a day and make the start. At this point, the Yankees have just a 4.5 percent chance of making the playoffs.
Cold9/11/2013 10:51:00 PM
Description: Phil Hughes will start for the Yankees Thursday at Baltimore.
Insight: Hughes was replaced in the rotation with David Huff last week but Huff was shelled so the Yankees will turn back to Hughes. He actually has a 3.84 ERA on the road this season, compared to 6.13 at Yankee Stadium, but we wouldn't trust him at Camden Yards against the powerful O's.
Cold9/3/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi has demoted Phil Hughes to the bullpen. Hughes is 0-4 with a 6.83 ERA over his last seven starts and 4-13 with a 4.86 ERA on the year.
Insight: The Yankees cannot afford to give games away at this point in the season. David Huff, who has gone 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA in 15 innings since being recalled in mid-August, will start Saturday against the Red Sox. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues. Hughes will be a free agent after the season and may have made his last start as a member of the Yankees.
Cold8/30/2013 4:49:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes' next start has been pushed back to Monday against the White Sox.
Insight: It's a better matchup than Sunday against the Orioles, but it's hard to trust Hughes at this point, especially for starts at Yankee Stadium. He is 0-6 with a 5.64 ERA over his last nine starts and 1-9 with a 5.79 ERA at home this season.
Cold8/20/2013 10:20:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes had his best start since early July Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: He threw six innings, struck out six and allowed two runs on seven hits in a no decision. Hughes came in with a 6.09 ERA over his last seven starts and is 4-12 with a 4.88 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP this season. He has been especially bad at Yankee Stadium, the site of Tuesday's game, going 1-9 with a 5.79 ERA there.
Cold8/10/2013 6:59:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes has allowed 14 earned runs on 22 hits in 11 innings over his last three starts.
Insight: The longball continues to be a major issue for the right-hander. He served up two more Saturday against the Tigers and has allowed 22 in 119 innings (1.66 HR/9).
7/13/2013 9:03:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes struck out a career-high 10 batters in 7 1/3 innings Saturday against the Twins, but he gave up three homers and four earned runs.
Insight: Hughes (4-9, 4.57 ERA) only allowed five hits in the game, but three left the park. He has allowed 1.58 HR/9 this year after giving up 1.65 per nine in 2012.
7/7/2013 12:59:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Buster Olney suggested that the Yankees could look to deal starter Phil Hughes at this year's trade deadline.
Insight: He mentioned the Giants and Padres as possible suitors. Hughes has struggled this year, producing a 4.55 ERA in 16 starts.
6/27/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: New York righthander Phil Hughes fell to 3-7 with a loss Thursday against Texas.
Insight: He actually pitched extremely well, allowing just two runs and five hits over eight innings. Unfortunately, Texas lefthander Derek Holland was even better (9 IP, 2 H, 0 ER). Hughes hasn't won since June 6th against the Mariners.
Cold6/13/2013 9:58:00 AM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes walked five batters and allowed four hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Athletics.
Insight: Hughes, as usual, has been feast or famine and is 3-5 with a 4.89 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.
Cold5/21/2013 10:05:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes bounced back from a disastrous outing his last time out with six two-run innings Tuesday in a no decision against Baltimore.
Insight: Hughes gave up five hits, walked two and allowed two solo homers to Chris Dickerson. The right-hander has a 5.51 ERA this season and has given up 10 homers in 47 1/3 innings.
Cold5/15/2013 10:31:00 PM
Description: The Mariners greeted Yankees starter Phil Hughes with six hits and seven earned runs in the first inning, knocking Hughes out after just two outs had been recorded.
Insight: Hughes had a 3.60 ERA after his start on May 4, but it didn't last. He has given up 13 hits and 13 earned runs in 6 1/3 over his last two turns. Fantasy owners should know by now that Hughes is extremely boom-or-bust.
Hot5/4/2013 7:38:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes continue to pitch well Saturday against the Oakland Athletics and finally picked up his first win of the season.
Insight: Hughes walked two, struck out nine and allowed four hits over eight scoreless innings Saturday. The right-hander has a 1.93 ERA and a 30/5 K/BB in 28 innings over his last four starts.
Hot5/4/2013 12:13:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes doesn't have the wins to show it, but he's pitched very well over his last three starts.
Insight: Hughes struck out nine batters and walked just one last Sunday in his third consecutive outing yielding exactly two runs and going at least six innings.
4/28/2013 5:14:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes has allowed 19 hits and six earned runs over 20 innings in his last three starts.
Insight: Hughes struck out nine batters and walked just one on Sunday and has a 22/3 K/BB in his last three turns. The right-hander gave up eight earned and 17 hits in his first seven innings this year.
4/23/2013 10:44:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes gave up six hits and two runs, walked two and struck out six in seven innings Tuesday against the Rays.
Insight: Hughes didn't allow a ball to leave the park after giving up five homers over his last two starts. The home run ball usually does Hughes in, but he'll be a decent fantasy option for owners in deep mixed leagues.
4/12/2013 5:13:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Phil Hughes will start Saturday versus the Orioles, according to Daniel Barbarisi of the Wall Street Journal.
Insight: Hughes was expected to be skipped following Thursday's rainout, but with Andy Pettitte being scratched from Sunday's start due to back spasms, the Yankees will throw Hughes Saturday and Hiroki Kuroda Sunday.
