Description: Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado has gone 16-for-39 (.410) with five doubles, a triple, a homer, nine RBIs and seven runs in his last nine games.
Insight: The 20-year-old Machado displayed promise last year as a rookie but wasn't a strong fantasy option. He's aiming to change that in 2013. A 4-for-5 Sunday against Oakland raises his batting average to .302.

Description: Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado became the second-youngest player to homer in a playoff game Wednesday against the Yankees.
Insight: Andruw Jones was the youngest, homering twice during the 1996 playoffs at the age of 19. Machado's home run was his only hit of the night and so far his only hit of the series.

Description: Rookie third baseman Manny Machado crushed two homers Wednesday in Baltimore's blowout win versus Toronto.
Insight: Machado continues to enjoy a strong rookie campaign. Since his call-up in mid-August, the 20-year-old has six homers and 23 RBI in 45 games.

Description: Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado announced his presence with a monster effort Friday night against the Royals. In just his second game in the major leagues, the 20-year-old bashed a pair of homers and finished the evening with four RBI.
Insight: Not bad for a guy who had never played a game above Double-A until Thursday. If he keeps this up, Wilson Betemit (.264, 12 HR, 37 RBI) probably won't be getting many starts at third base the rest of this season.

8/9/2012 6:07:00 PM
Description: Baltimore's Manny Machado will start at third base and bat last in his major league debut Thursday night against Kansas City.
Insight: Machado's potential is off the charts but he's never played a game above Double-A ball and even there he was only hitting .266. There'll be a big learning curve for Machado during his first stint in the majors, so don't expect results right away. With that said, he could be worth holding onto if you're playing in a keeper league.

Description: The Orioles will promote top position prospect Manny Machado Thursday to take over the starting third base job in Baltimore, according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.
Insight: Machado has played mostly at shortstop at Double-A Bowie this season but he'll be used at third with J.J. Hardy entrenched at shortstop with the O's. He only has AL-only value at this time.
