Description: Former Angels and Expos outfielder Vladimir Guerrero is hanging up his cleats.
Insight: The 38-year-old announced his retirement on Friday. He played for four teams during his 16-year career. Guerrero (.318, 449 HR, 1,496 RBI in 2,147 career games) isn't a slam dunk for the Hall of Fame but he's also never faced any PED accusations and that certainly helps his case.

3/1/2013 2:39:00 PM
Description: Free agent DH Vladimir Guerrero wants to return to baseball this season, according to Fox's Ken Rosenthal.
Insight: Guerrero didn't play in the majors last season. If he found a job on a good-hitting team, he might have some low-end fantasy value, but he's not a guy to select on Draft Day.

6/12/2012 1:29:00 PM
Description: The Toronto Blue Jays have decided against calling up Vladimir Guerrero and have granted him his release.
Insight: Guerrero batted .303 with with Triple-A Las Vegas, but on Monday requested to be called up to the majors or released. No word on whether Guerrero will continue to look for work, but as a fantasy option it looks like it's over for 2012.

6/3/2012 4:09:00 PM
Description: Vladimir Guerrero has been promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas after a very successful stint in Single-A and appears close to returning to the major leagues.
Insight: Guerrero batted .450 with 4 HRs and 8 RBIs in four games for Advanced-A Dunedin and so far he's 1-5 with a double since getting called up to Triple-A. It seems like only a matter of time before the future Hall of Famer is back in the bigs again.

5/18/2012 2:16:00 PM
Description: Toronto DH Vladimir Guerrero could now be on the fast track back to the majors with the demotion of Adam Lind.
Insight: Guerrero can still hit, but finding a spot to play was going to be difficult with the way DH Edwin Encarnacion was hitting. Encarnacion can now play first base for Lind and Vlad can get comfortable in the DH role. If you have an open spot and can wait, Vlad might be a nice waiver claim.

5/10/2012 8:40:00 PM
Description: Vladimir Guerrero has agreed to a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Insight: Guerrero batted.290 with 13 HRs and 63 RBIs last year, so this guy can still rake. We imagine Guerrero will be used almost exclusively as a DH, which is a bit of a problem because Edwin Encarnacion (.269, 10 HRs, 26 RBIs) has already been doing a great job at that position this season. Encarnacion can also play first though, so if Guerrero does become an everyday player for Toronto, it will probably come at the expense of Adam Lind (.198, 3 HRs, 10 RBIs).

4/29/2012 4:00:00 PM
Description: Former Baltimore Orioles DH Vladimir Guerrero will workout for the Arizona Diamondbacks this week.
Insight: Guerrero is obviously no longer the offensive stud he was in Anaheim and Texas, but he might help the D'backs as a part-time outfielder and pinch hitter. His fantasy value will be minimal under those conditions.

3/19/2012 2:30:00 PM
Description: Former Baltimore Orioles DH Vladimir Guerrero will probably have to head to Japan if he wants to continue playing baseball.
Insight: Guerrero is not the same hitter who posted huge numbers in Anaheim and Texas. He's 37-years-old and coming off a season in which he hit just 13 homers, the fewest since 1997. His career-low .733 OPS is another indicator of how far he has fallen. At this point in time there doesn't seem to be a roster spot for him anywhere in the majors. Cross him out as a fantasy option.

7/26/2011 10:20:00 AM
Description: Baltimore Orioles DH Vladimir Guerrero could make his return from the disabled list in time for Tuesday's game against Toronto.
Insight: Guerrero is not the same guy who posted huge numbers in Texas last season. He was batting just .279 with seven homers and 31 RBIs before going to the DL with a hand injury. His 0.700 OPS will have to improve if he wants to return to fantasy lineups.

Description: Baltimore Orioles' DH Vladimir Guerrero was hit on the right hand in the fifth inning of Sunday's game by Kyle Weiland and left for a pinch runner. Source: Sports Network.
Insight: Guerrero was lucky and suffered no broken bones, just a bruise and is listed as questionable for Thursday. After a great bounce-back season in Texas last year, "Vlad" has mainly been a disappointment in 2011, batting .279 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs.

4/28/2011 8:55:00 PM
Description: Vladimir Guerrero hit a solo home run in Thursdays' loss to the Red Sox.
Insight: Vlad is still a good source of power and should be active in most leagues, especially league with a DH spot.

4/21/2011 7:42:00 AM
Description: Vlad Guerrero hit his 2nd homer in as many days and is now on pace for 28 on the year which means his power wouldn't fall from 2010 to 2011.
Insight: Vlad's average is up to .268 now and he could still end up around .300 with 20-25 bombs and be a difference maker as your DH/utility player.

4/8/2011 5:16:00 AM
Description: Vladimir Guerrero had his first big game of 2011 when he went 2-for-5, homered, drove in two runs and scored twice last night.
Insight: Entering the game he hadn't homered and had only driven in one run this season. Overall, he isn't someone for fantasy owners to worry about. Expect solid production since he hits in the middle of a decent Baltimore lineup.

2/19/2011 12:03:00 AM
Description: Vladimir Guerrero has passed his physical and officially inked a one-year, $8 million deal with the Baltimore Orioles according to MLB.com. The deal became official exactly two weeks to the day after he agreed to terms with the Orioles.
Insight: The addition of Guerrero at DH will create a log jam in the outfield for the O's. Last year's DH Luke Scott will likely start in left field, while Nolan Reimold, Felix Pie and Randy Winn will compete for backup outfield spots on the roster. (RapidDraft.com)

2/16/2011 3:00:00 PM
Description: The highly-anticipated arrival of Vladimir Guerrero finally happened on Wednesday morning, when the veteran designated hitter reported to Orioles camp around 9 a.m. ET, according to MLB.com. Guerrero is scheduled to go through a physical examination on Wednesday before anything is made official, and there is a tentative news conference scheduled for Friday.
Insight: Guerrero's presence bolsters an Orioles lineup that has also added Mark Reynolds and Derrek Lee this offseason, and having the veteran's formidable bat on Baltimore's side will be a welcome change. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Vladimir Guerrero will have his physical today and if it goes well he will be introduced at a press conference on Friday. SOURCE: BALTIMORE SUN
Insight: Guerrero will DH for Baltimore and if he stays healthy we expect him to play about 130 games. He will create a logjam of playing time for Luke Scott, Felix Pie and Nolan Reimold. Look for Reimold to start the season in the minors.

2/14/2011 9:03:00 PM
Description: Guerrero will finally undergo his physical Wednesday, which he'll need to pass to finalize his one-year deal with the O's.
Insight: Normally the physical is a formality, but it's plenty relevant in Guerrero's case. Assuming he passes, he can go on bringing late-round steal potential to fantasy drafts. (RapidDraft.com)

2/5/2011 11:00:00 AM
Description: The Orioles have signed Vladimir Guerrero to a one year deal. Guerrero's deal, which was first reported by ESPNDeportes.com, is reportedly worth $8 million, although the details are still being worked out by both sides. The Orioles have not commented on the signing, which won't be made official until Guerrero undergoes a physical early next week.
Insight: This would be a major boost to the Orioles offense, who have already added Mark Reynolds and Derek Lee this off season. Baltimore could make life very difficult for Boston and New York this year. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Vladimir Guerrero and the Orioles have agreed on a one-year deal worth $8 million. Some of the contract involves deferred money. SOURCE: ENRIQUE ROJAS
Insight: He should be slotted into the cleanup spot. Baltimore has a deep reserve of hitters so Vlady could get extra days off, shifting Luke Scott from LF to DH and putting Felix Pie in the lineup. That could help him to avoid a late season fade like last year.
