(Sports Network) - Homer Bailey aims to get the Cincinnati Reds back into the win column this evening when they continue a four-game set with the San Diego Padres at Great American Ball Park.

Cincinnati saw its 10-game winning streak come to a screeching halt on Monday thanks in part to a pair of former Reds, as Yonder Alonso tallied four hits, three of which were doubles, an RBI and run scored while Edinson Volquez wobbled through five innings in San Diego's 11-5 triumph.

Volquez and Alonso, along with catcher Yasmani Grandal and pitcher Brad Boxberger, were sent from Cincinnati to San Diego for pitcher Mat Latos as part of a five-player swap in December.

Volquez (7-7) surrendered five runs on six hits and three walks in five innings. Alonso, meanwhile, is 9-for-18 with a homer and six RBI over his last four contests.

San Diego moved to 15-10 in July.

Cincinnati was seeking its first 11-game winning streak in 55 years. The 1939 and 1957 Reds hold the club record with 12 straight victories.

The New York Yankees also won 10 consecutive games earlier this year from June 6-18.

Mike Leake (4-7) started the game for Cincinnati and allowed five runs on five hits and three walks in just 1 2/3 innings.

"It was just a situation where he kept missing...he walked quite a few tonight," Reds manager Dusty Baker said of Leake.

In all, Reds pitching walked 11 batters in the contest.

Bailey gets the call tonight trying to win his fifth consecutive decision. He had won four straight starts going into his last outing on Wednesday in Houston and certainly pitched well enough to nail down the win, as he scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings. However, he walked five batters and did not factor in the decision of his team's 5-3 win.

He is 9-6 on the year with a 3.53 ERA.

Bailey beat the Padres the last time he faced them and is 4-0 in six starts against them with a 3.35 ERA.

The Reds have used just five starting pitchers (Bailey, Bronson Arroyo, Johnny Cueto, Latos, Mike Leake) through 102 games this season. According to Elias, that is the team's longest streak since 1898, when the Reds' staff lasted 147 games with just five starters.

San Diego, meanwhile, will counter with righty Jason Marquis, who has won his last three starts. Marquis beat the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, holding them to three runs (1 earned) and three hits in 7 1/3 innings to run his record to 4-5 to go along with a 3.48 ERA since being released by the Minnesota Twins.

Marquis lost to the Reds back on July 8 and is 7-4 lifetime against them with a 4.50 ERA in 17 games (16 starts).

Cincinnati took three of four from the Padres right before the All-Star break.
