(Sports Network) - Lefty Paul Maholm can add to a career-best single-season win total Tuesday when the Atlanta Braves visit the Miami Marlins in the middle game of a three-game series at Marlins Park.

The eighth overall pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2003, Maholm debuted in the majors in 2005 with six starts and was a double-digit winner for the first time with Pittsburgh in 2007.

He won nine, eight, nine and six games in his subsequent four seasons with the Pirates before signing as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs in January.

Maholm opened the season with nine wins in 21 appearances with the Cubs to begin this year, then headed to Atlanta in a four-player trade on July 30.

He's 3-4 in eight starts with the Braves with a 4.28 earned run average, including a 3-0 defeat of the New York Mets on Sept. 7 in New York.

He was an 8-2 loser in one subsequent start, against Milwaukee on Sept. 12.

For the Marlins, 22-year-old righty Nathan Eovaldi tries to snap a four-start skid.

The 2008 draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers has made nine starts since coming to the Marlins in a July 25 trade that sent Hanley Ramirez to the West Coast.

He was 3-2 in his initial five appearances with his new team, but has since been beaten four consecutive times while allowing 16 runs on 25 hits in 19 innings.

He's 0-1 in two career starts against the Braves, including a 6-1 loss in Atlanta on Aug. 2 in which he allowed six runs on eight hits in two innings.

On Monday, Martin Prado went 4-for-4 with two RBI and Dan Uggla added a three- run homer, leading the Braves to a 7-5 triumph.

Jeff Baker had an RBI base hit and Jason Heyward scored a pair of runs for the Braves, who have won four straight on the heels of a three-game skid.

Tim Hudson (15-6) allowed four runs on 10 hits over five innings to earn the win. Craig Kimbrel stranded a runner in the ninth to earn his NL-best 37th save of the year.

The Braves, who lead the NL wild-card race, now trail the East-leading Washington Nationals by five games.

Gorkys Hernandez went 3-for-5, falling a homer shy of the cycle, and Bryan Petersen knocked in a pair with a fourth-inning triple for the Marlins, who have dropped five of seven.

Wade LeBlanc (2-5) was tagged for six runs on seven hits over four innings to absorb the loss.

Atlanta won nine of the first 12 games between the teams this season, including three of four at Turner Field from July 30-Aug. 2. The Braves won last year's season series, 12 games to six.
