NOTES:
The Web.com Tour travels to North Carolina this week for the Chiquita Classic in Weddington, just outside of Charlotte. Four of the top six players on the money list are in the field - Casey Wittenberg (3), Ben Kohles (4), Paul Haley II (5) and Robert Streb (6). Wittenberg and Kohles will be trying to win for the third time this season and earn an instant promotion to the PGA Tour. Wittenberg currently trails Luke Guthrie by $51,910 for the money lead. Wittenberg and Kohles could take over the top spot on the money list with a win this week. Wittenberg could also take over the money lead with a solo second-place finish.

Former European Ryder Cup player Robert Karlsson is in the field this week. Karlsson lives in Charlotte and is currently ranked 75th in the world. He has 11 European Tour victories.

The tournament is being held at The Club at Longview, which is about 15 miles from downtown Charlotte. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 2003. The Club at Longview will be part of next year's Web.com Tour's new 4-event playoffs series that will determine which players earn PGA Tour cards for 2014.

Last year, Scotland's Russell Knox posted rounds of 63-66 on the weekend to cruise to an easy victory. Knox finished at 25-under 263 and won by three strokes over Billy Hurley III. The victory was the first for the rookie on the Web.com Tour.

Knox will attempt to become the first player in Web.com Tour history to successfully defend his title. Knox is currently 188th on the PGA Tour money list in 2012 and did not qualify for the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup. His best finish this year on the PGA Tour was a tie for 21st at the True South Classic.

In 2010, Tommy Gainey jumped in front after the second round and never looked back. He fired rounds of 64-66-62-69 and finished at 27-under-par 261 for a 3- shot win over Joe Affrunti. The victory was Gainey's second of 2010, following his breakthrough win at the Melwood Prince George's County Open. Gainey, known as "Two Gloves" because he wears gloves on both hands, was a former participant on Golf Channel's "Big Break" program.

Gainey's 54-hole total of 24-under-par matched the Web.com Tour record for most strokes under par after three rounds set by Arjun Atwal at the 2008 Chattanooga Classic.

The Web.com Tour heads to Maryland next week for the Neediest Kids Championship at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, where Steve Wheatcroft captured the 2011 title.
