| ||The PGA Tour returns to Hilton Head for The Heritage this week and Jim Furyk
returns to defend his title. Furyk and Brian Davis needed a playoff last year
to determine the winner, and it was Davis that basically gave the title to
Furyk. Davis` second shot landed in a hazard to the left of the 18th green.
As he blasted out, his club hit a dead branch on his backswing. He called
over a rules official to discuss the situation. It was determined that
hitting the branch was a two-stroke penalty. Davis` shot reached the green,
but he was looking at a 30-foot putt, which was now for double-bogey. Furyk
had already lagged a long birdie putt close before Davis hit his putt. The
Englishman ran his double-bogey try past the hole and went to shake Furyk`s
hand. Furyk then tapped in for par and his 15th PGA Tour victory. Golf
Channel has three hours of coverage on Thursday and Friday, while CBS also
will cover three hours of action on Saturday and Sunday. The tour heads to
Louisiana next week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where Jason Bohn
won by two shots last year.
