NOTES
After weather delayed action on Saturday last year, Andres Romero returned to the course Sunday and closed out rounds of 65-68 to win the Zurich Classic. Players remained in the same pairings for the final round, and Romero needed to complete just two holes of his third round on Sunday. After he did that, Romero posted a four-under 68 in the final round then waited, and waited, and waited. The Argentine finished nearly three hours before the final groups putted out, so he went into the clubhouse, had some lunch and talked to some friends in his homeland. Peter Lonard finished one shot behind Romero thanks to a three-under 69. Woody Austin and Nicholas Thompson were both within one shot with two holes to go, but Austin put one in the water on 18 and Thompson bogeyed the final two holes. Romero became the fourth straight first-time winner at this event. Six of the last seven winners of the Zurich Classic were first-time winners on the PGA Tour. In all, 17 players have made the Zurich Classic their first PGA Tour win. The Golf Channel will have three hours of coverage on Thursday and Friday, before CBS takes over for three hours of action on the final two days. Next week is the Quail Hollow Championship, where Anthony Kim earned his first PGA Tour win last year.
