NOTES
Martin Kaymer kicked off his stellar 2010 campaign with a one-stroke win over Ryder Cup teammate Ian Poulter at last year`s Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. Kaymer fired three straight 67s, then matched Poulter`s final-round 66 to earn his fifth European Tour title and second at this event. In 2008, Kaymer struggled to a two-over 74 on the final day, but still won by four. After winning this event last year, Kaymer collected three more titles including his first major as he won the PGA Championship. The field this week has plenty of star power as four of the top-five players in the world rankings are competing this week. World No. 3 Kaymer will be joined Abu Dhabi Golf Club by No. 1 Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell and Phil Mickelson as well as reigning British Open champ Louis Oosthuizen, Padraig Harrington and two-time champion Paul Casey. Mickelson, a four-time major champion, will be making his debut at this event. Casey won the title in 2007 and 2009. The only former champ not in the field is Chris DiMarco, who won the inaugural title in 2006. Golf Channel has four hours of tape-delayed coverage all four days. Action goes from 9:30 a.m. (et) - 1:30 p.m. the first two days, then 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on the weekend. Next week is a new tournament, the Volvo Tournament of Champions. It will be played at the The Royal Golf Club in Bahrain.
