* - Defending Champion
The European Tour heads to Hong Kong this week for the penultimate event of the 2010 season. This is the final full-field event before the top 60 players in the Race to Dubai compete next week at the Dubai World Championship. Gregory Bourdy picked up this third European Tour win last year at Hong Kong Golf Club as he beat Rory McIlroy by two strokes. Bourdy had four rounds of 67 or better, including a seven-under 63 in round three to propel him to victory. Bourdy will try to make history this week. The last player to repeat as champion was Yung-yo Hsieh, in 1964. The tournament has been around since 1959, but was added to the European Tour`s schedule in 2002. The Frenchman enters this week with a victory in each of the last three seasons, but just four top-10 finishes in 2010. Among the headliners hoping to visit the winner`s circle this week are European Ryder Cup teammates Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell, the U.S. Open champion. McDowell is No. 2 behind Martin Kaymer in the race for the top prize in the Race to Dubai and will look to cut into his deficit as Kaymer is taking the week off. McDowell trails by 367,600 euros and this week`s top prize is 301,446 euros. Each of the last six champions are in the field this week, including two-time winner Miguel Angel Jimenez. Golf Channel will have coverage of all four rounds beginning at midnight (et) each day. Next week is the final event of the 2010 European Tour season, the Dubai World Championship, where Lee Westwood is expected to defend his title.
